Crash, Bang, Slap. These were the sounds that Juan lived with in his home. When he went to school which was not often since his parents were often drugged, it was hard for him to concentrate. He fought with his fellow schoolmates. He was failing his classes. Juan’s case was reported to the Department of the Family and they decided to remove him from his house. Juan joined the C.A.S.A. family. He has been there for three months and is beginning to sleep through the night. He was given his own reading books and takes care of them. He spends an hour a day after school in the Sensory Therapy Room. When he is hyper, he is given earphones and listens to soft classical music which seems to calm him.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the same sound, calming sound could be played throughout the building for all the children to benefit from. A calming wake-up, a call to dinner, a reminder for bedtime. All part of the on-going therapy needed to heal the trauma of abuse.
This sound system is C.A.S.A.’s goal.
